The LION KING 3D Featurette: Timon Meets London Zoo's Meerkats

The meerkats of London Zoo were visited by Hollywood royalty. Timon, the original meerkat and his warthog friend, Pumbaa, from Disney’s best loved classic, The Lion King 3D, made a trip from Tinsletown to meet their real life friends in the enclosure.

The Lion King 3D currently pulling in audiences at cinemas nationwide, and impressing with its blend of enchanting story-telling and wonderful animation now injected with an extra level of quality thanks to a digital remastering and 3D edit, some furry fans at London Zoo were treated to an appearance by two of its stars. Timon and Pumbaa, voiced by Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella respectively turned up in the meerkat enclosure to greet Timon's fellow meerkats during half term to celebrate the release, and to bring them some Disney magic. The park keepers also played the award-winning €˜Hakuna Matata€™ song into the enclosure to complete the experience for the furry creatures and ensure they had no worries for the rest of their day. Precisely what worries the meerkats may have had up to then remains unclear at this stage, but with them being big business these days, thanks to the Compare The Meerkat adverts, the pressures of show business may just have been threatening to get them down. Anyway, here's a video of what went down in the enclosure... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHkWlGS6w_M Disney can be proud of themselves recently, with three outstanding 3D releases available to audiences this month, with The Nightmare Before Christmas and Beauty & The Beast both already available to buy on Blu-ray 3D, and now this - and the animation giant's work with the medium is enough to make me rethink my initially reserved stance on 3D. The Lion King is available on Disney 3D Blu-ray„ and Disney DVD from 7 November.
