The Lion King Remake Is "Astonishing" And "Beautiful"

Here's the morning report and it's good news everyone! Critics have now seen The Lion King and are falling over themselves to proclaim it a visually astonishing treat that delivers on emotions and performances.

The remake might be getting the same sort of cynical heat as every live action Disney remake seems to initially attract right now (because, famously, Disney are the only people who remake things), but with Jungle Book director Jon Favreau in charge, it was never going to be anything but another win.

By the look of the immediate social media reactions from critics, it's more than just a cynical cash-grab too, with special praise going to Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner - the new Timon and Pumbaa - as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor's performance as Scar. And by the sound of it, the effects work is on another level entirely.
