The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Trailer Breakdown: 25 Things You Need To See
21. Dutch Angles
Early on in his career, Ritchie became known for a deliberately idiosyncratic editing and filming style. Well, either idiosyncratic or obnoxious, depending on who you asked, utilising the famous MTV style of fast cuts, freeze frames and pounding music to make it very clear that this wasn't your dad's crime film, son, this is something way more cool and in your face. He's since become a little more subdued, restraining himself to the point of using slow motion sparingly in his Sherlock Holmes films. Still, even in this trailer he finds time for a Dutch angle (last seen in a blockbuster in Kenneth Branagh's Thor), the camera falling sideways as Hammer reaches for his pistol.
