It sets up the story, introduces who most of the major players are going to be, contains bits of humour, some science, and a few glimpses of the thrilling action sequences. Much like they did with Scott's Prometheus, Fox have also released a couple of viral videos designed to introduce us to the characters before we see them on the big-screen. They're not essential viewing, but certainly worth a watch.
