One of the key scenes of the film is set to the the major dust storm at the beginning, the one that serves to wreck the mission and cause the crew to abandon Mars, leaving Watney behind. It should be an extremely exciting and frenzied scene, and one that you feel Scott will be able to make look incredible. Indeed the filming of the dust storm was said to be one of the most dangerous parts of the filming process, and also incredibly realistic. Collider's Steve Weintraub got to visit the set of the film, and he had this to say about the the scene:
"Seeing the production film the storm sequence using practical effects was amazing and the closest I will ever get to visiting another planet."
A storm's a-brewin', and it sounds as though it's going to look amazing. If that's the level they're going for with the entire film, then it should at least be visually incredible.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
