Overall
Even though it's easy to see who has won going by the scores, it's not an easy decision to arrive at; both films are absolutely exemplary entries into the genre, and have different strengths and weakness. It appears that Inception takes the slight lead, weaving a more intellectually engaging story even if it's not as technically outlandish or revolutionary as The Matrix. If there has to be a rivalry between them, we'd give it to Inception, but frankly, the discerning viewer probably loves both films anyway.
