The Mummy Review: 4 Ups & 7 Downs

1. It Has A Few Interesting Ideas

The Mummy Tom Cruise

Though the overall product is a hopelessly formulaic blockbuster, there are a few interesting ideas sprinkled around, particularly the nature of Tom Cruise's hero Nick Morton and his future in the Dark Universe, and some weirder eccentricities earlier on in the movie that were smartly kept out of the trailers.

No spoilers here, but these moments at least make the film feel more different from the Fraser movies, even if the few clever moments are largely buried underneath all the bone-headed chit-chat, flat "humour", lame characters and cookie-cutter action.

In short, no, it's not the Worst Film Ever, despite what the Internet might tell you. It's still not very good, though.
