'The Muppets' Will Be Back For A Sequel But Jason Segel May Not Be

Disney to push through with a sequel to shoot this year with James Bobin and Nicholas Stoller now writing the script.

If like me, you are a massive fan of the Muppets and, like myself, applauded their most recent outing, then you will be pleased to learn that a sequel to Kermit and co.€™s triumphant return is in the works. The news comes through Vulture and other sources stating that original director James Bobin and co-writer Nicholas Stoller are set to return to bring The Muppets back to the big screen once again for more antics. They have penned a deal to direct and write the sequel respectively. Unfortunately it is also reported by Disney insiders that co-writer and original leading man Jason Segel may not be involved with the sequel due to those pesky scheduling conflicts. He is set to embark on his eighth season on CBS' sitcom How I Met Your Mother and has publicity for "The Five-Year Engagement" (out next month) and Judd Apatow's "This Is Forty" (out in December) that has put his involvement in doubt, which will be a key creative loss seen as though he co-pitched, co-wrote, co-developed and co-starred in the recent film. It is also unclear whether any of the original human cast will be back for the sequel, but hey, this is The Muppets; I€™m pretty sure that they€™ll be a whole host a famous faces desperate to make an appearance. The Muppets return to our screens has garnered universal acclaim, recently scoring songwriter Bret McKenzie an Academy Award for the brilliant €œMan or Muppet?€ If you haven€™t seen it yet, then you are missing out. I can€™t remember the last time I found myself smiling the entire time throughout a movie and still smiling long after it was over. Yes Muppet fans, this is one piece of sequel news that I welcome gladly. Expect "The Muppets 2" to film this year.
