The Prestige - Critics Reviews

1159624.jpgYou lucky lucky Americans. We still have to wait 3 weeks here in the UK for The Prestige but you guys have got it already although on a limited release. The movie of course is directed by Christopher Nolan and is an adaptation of the Christopher Priest novel that follows two magicians whose rivarly gets way out of hand! The movie stars Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Scarlett Johansson and here are the critics reviews... "Like Memento, Nolan's Prestige is an ever-shifting hall of mirrors so masterfully executed that its emotional hollowness actually manages to be beside the point".- Brett Buckalew - Filmstew.com"Audiences might enjoy this cinematic sleight of hand, but the key characters are such single-minded, calculating individuals that the real magic would be to find any heart in this tale". - Kirk Honeycutt - Hollywood Reporter"The Prestige is the kind of popcorn movie that M. Night Shyamalan should dedicate himself to making -- a dark, freaky thrill ride, committed to old-fashioned storytelling that doesn't take itself too seriously". - Glenn Whipp - Los Angeles Daily News"You'll fall in love with it. It's not just Nolan's best film; it's one of the best of the year". - Joshua Tyler - Cinemablend.com"A brilliantly plotted, smartly directed, fiendishly entertaining merry-go-round". - Eric D. Snider - Ericsnider.com The Prestige is currently weighing it at a 74% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 103 reviews. It's a good rating but again like Flags of our Fathers it isn't blowing anybody away. A lot of critics are pointing towards the big revelation at the end of the third act as being disapointing and a big let down after it's build up. I still can't wait to see this flick. I love Memento and Batman Begins was awesome. I really like Insomnia to, I think that movie is really under rated. November 10th is the release date for the UK... for now I just have to wait! source - rotten tomatoes
