The Shallows Trailer Pits Blake Lively Against A FREAKING SHARK
Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water...
Blake Lively's battled though the metaphorically shark-infested waters of the Upper East Side in Gossip Girl, but now she has to deal with definitely-real shark-infested waters in The Shallows. The film's not really been on my radar (otherwise I'd have made that Gossip Girl joke before), but a new tense teaser's dropped that's mighty intriguing and has got my curiosity. Check it out for yourself below.
What's kinda odd is that we got a trailer for this film last month that detailed Lively's plight in a fair bit of detail, whereas this one acts as more of a tease of concept. It's almost like they've accidentally been released out of order. Unless the final moment, with voice-over provided by a safety warning, really mean there's more to the movie than a stalking shark, but I'd bet that's just tricksy editing.
Director Jaume Collet-Serra's most recent projects were indistinct Liam Neeson action-ers Non-Stop and Run All Night, but he did direct the surprisingly deft Orphan, so I'm going to allow myself to get excited for this one, even if it'll likely veer into a clich just a little.
