The Single Biggest Mistake Each MCU Film And TV Show Has Made

9. Spider-Man: No Way Home - Jon Watts' Direction

By far the greatest film in Phase 4, Spider-Man: No Way Home was an event movie that genuinely lived up to the hype, and not only did it provide one hell of a nostalgia trip, but it was also a thrilling, beautifully acted and deeply emotional roller coaster ride that delivered one mind-blowing scene after another all the way through its lengthy run-time.

It has its issues, just like anything else, and the single biggest one was easily the rather messy directing of it, although the unconvincing set-up and some logic issues also brought it down just a tad.

As previously said, Jon Watts is not the strongest of directors and it's arguable that the MCU's Spider-Man Trilogy succeeded in spite of, not because of his efforts. No Way Home is pretty clunky cinematography-wise, and the direction generally lacks flair, thus strongly suggesting that Watts exiting the upcoming Fantastic Four film is no bad thing.

No Way Home is still a great movie, yet one can't help but wish it'd been given to a more capable director (Sam Raimi, maybe?). That way, it'd have had the strong visuals to match the strength of its writing and acting.
