The Single Greatest Thing In Each James Bond Movie

15. Moonraker - The Pre-Credits Sequence

No Time to Die Daniel Craig

Bond pre-credits scenes are just as inconsistent in quality terms as the films themselves, and they often contrast with the overall films in rather bizarre ways. Some of the worst pre-credits scenes come from some of the franchise's high-points (For Your Eyes Only is a great example), while some of the best ones come from some of the franchise's worst films - such is the case here.

Say what you will about Moonraker - there's an awful lot to be said and very little of it is good - but its opening skydiving action sequence is absolutely insane. That is, in the best sense of the word.

While the rest of the film dives head-first into nonsensical stupidity and plays like nothing more than a cynical attempt to cash in on Star Wars' popularity, this opening is a splendidly filmed, wonderfully choreographed set-piece that delivers fantastic thrills while, unlike the rest of the movie, never becoming too silly to take seriously. Bravo.
