Ever since it was announced Spider-Man was going to become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there's be rampant speculation normally only reserved for dubious Star Wars: The Force Awakens concept art. Will they canonise the Sam Raimi films, with Tobey Maguire reprising the role of Peter Parker? Is the Spider-Man going forward actually Miles Morales? Will Peter have a race change in a bid to diversify the MCU? Can you expect a reference in the oh-so-close Avengers: Age Of Ultron? How exactly has a hero everyone was sick of only a couple of months ago become the biggest talking point on the internet? Now those rumours are starting to coalesce into something regarding actual facts. The current suggestion is that, following the character's debut in Captain America: Civil War, Sony's 2017 stand-alone movie will see Peter Parker go back to high school, but dispense with the tired origin story and instead see him take on Iron Man and The Sinister Six. For now called The Spectacular Spider-Man and with Drew Goddard being circled to direct, expect confirmation and more information in the coming months. For now, however, don't let the mere notion of a new Spider-Man blind you to some real problems that are already forming; as it is, Spidey Mk. 3 might not be so spectacular (Sony need to stop calling these things that make such easy jokes).
