The Spectacular Spider-Man: 11 Biggest Mistakes It Needs To Avoid

10. Hiring Anyone But J.K. Simmons To Play J. Jonah Jameson

Even in the widely-maligned Spider-Man 3, there was one constant brilliant performance throughout the Sam Raimi movies, and that was J.K. Simmons' magnificent turn as cranky Daily Bugle editor J. Jonah Jameson, who delighted in decrying Spidey as a menace at every errant opportunity. Jameson was absent from both Amazing Spider-Man movies, causing many to wonder when the character might next appear on screens. There will be much demand to see him back in the new Spidey movie, and a simple way to win a lot of fans back is to re-hire Simmons for the iconic part. While the actor's asking price might be a little higher these days, what with his recent Best Supporting Actor Oscar win for Whiplash, he's a quintessential part of Marvel, given that he has also lent his voice to various cartoon incarnations of the character. It's tough to read even the comics without doing so in Simmons' loud, gruff voice, and to cast anyone else in the role would be a major sacrilege.
