The Walking Dead to Get a Movie Adaptation?

A recent report indicates that a movie version of AMC’s hit Walking Dead series may be in the early stages of inception.

Bloody Disgusting indicates that a movie version of AMC€™s hit Walking Dead series may be in the early stages of inception. According to the horror site, the project has been discussed in a few €œnon-business conversations€, which likely means over an idle brunch, or at a celebrity get together. While the creator of the Walking Dead comic book, and writer and series producer of the AMC T.V show, appeared to rule out a cinema treatment in an interview in 2010, he also indicated he was surprised it even got a TV show. Kirkman said: "I didn't want to do a movie for obvious reasons, and TV always seemed like a tough sell. But AMC got behind it and pushed the limits." Really, it wasn€™t a tough sell at all. We know one thing for sure about The Walking Dead; it sells, whether that€™s in a comic book on a TV screens. Is it such a leap to imagine that AMC will look to recreate their success with the TV show, but on the big screen? Of course, if it ever does happen, we€™re still in the infancy period of the project right now. It€™s not unheard of for a TV show to make the jump to screen €“ X-files did it twice, albeit not entirely successfully €“ but still, if it is to happen at all, we€™re talking years into the future. The third season of The Walking Dead is currently filming, with new cast members David Morrissey and Danai Gurira joining the familiar line-up as the vile Mayor of Woodsbury and the ultimate baddass Michonne respectively. The Walking Dead will return to FX in the UK and AMC in America in October this year. Yay!
