UPDATE: It was a pretty wild rumor but fun to think about never-the-less. I would still say Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, Aeon Flux) is still favourite for this but I wouldn't be surprised if Len Wiseman found himself with the project sooner rather than later. END OF UPDATE Well if it wasn't for the direct quote I wouldn't believe it myself but here's the mega bizarre rumor that is just so ridiculous ya know, it might just turn out to be true. At a press launch for the new Metal Gear Solid video game for the Playstation 3, Kokatu reporter Brian Ashcroft got to talk with Konami's Aki Saito who said the much talked about movie adaptation of the popular game was still very much in the negotiations period BUT he also said that PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON was interested in directing.

You don't think it's possible he has got PTA (THERE WILL BE BLOOD, MAGNOLIA, BOOGIE NIGHTS) mixed up with Paul W.S. Anderson (MORTAL KOMBAT, RESIDENT EVIL, ALIENS VS. PREDATOR) do you? Is PTA - one of the finest storytellers we have in the business actually interested in making a big studio blockbuster movie? Man, that is a pretty big coup if true.
