This sucks. Mark Romanek leaves THE WOLF MAN!

For not yet disclosed "creative differences", Universal's remake of their classic 50's horror movie THE WOLF MAN found itself without a director Tuesday morning after the long time attached Mark Romanek left the production. The film was set to mark the music video helmer's first feature film since his cool psychological thriller ONE HOUR PHOTO. Thankfully Romanek's departure isn't expected to effect any of the actors involved in the production.

The awesome Benicio Del Toro is still expected to play the WOLF MAN, Anthony Hopkins is father Sir. John Talbot and Emily Blunt his love interest. Filming was set to take place on February 18th, but without a director it may have to be pushed back a little. Really crappy news IMO because Romanek was an exciting name attached to this and he really seemed to know what he was doing. In fact it was just about the only horror movie I could actually say I was looking forward to on the horizon. Was the problem over CGI, the budget (he had $100 million on this, so it won't be that) or the script which is strike locked? Whatever it was, for the passionate Romanek to leave it must have been something major and that just doesn't bode well for this production, regardless of who they find as a replacement.
