Whether corrupt businessman or vengeful alien or ice giant, Christian Bale is set to wreak havoc.

We heard awhile back that former Batman Christian Bale would be starring in Thor: Love and Thunder. While there was a fairly large contingency who were hoping he'd be starring as the horse-headed Korbinite warrior, Beta Ray Bill, there were a lot of us who figured he'd be playing the film's villain.

We went awhile without anything to point us in one direction or the other, but last week, Valkyrie herself, Tessa Thompson, confirmed in an interview with ET Now that Bale would, in fact, be playing the film's villain. Again, this isn't a huge surprise, as quite a few of us were expecting this to be the case, but it's nice to have some closure on the subject.

Now that we can comfortably say, "Yes, he's the villain," we have the opportunity to do something obligatory. We have the opportunity to do something we love. We have the opportunity to make a list breaking down all the possibilities. Just who could he be playing? What indomitable threat could he be embodying? Who will lay the smackdown on Thor, Jane, and Valkyrie when the film drops in November 2021?

Buckle up, and let's talk about it.

9. Perrikus

Straight out of the gate, we've got Perrikus, the God of Unlimited Power and Infinite Energy.

Perrikus is the leader of the Dark Gods, the evil opposites of the Nordic gods. A towering, imposing figure, he wields immense strength and durability, on par with that of Thor and Odin. He wields a scythe that is capable of cutting through anything, and he is able to emit blasts of unfathomably powerful energy.

A few of Perrikus's outstanding feats seem to have been adapted already, albeit by different villains. He and his Dark Gods returned after an eons-old banishment and stealthily invaded Asgard (similar to the Dark Elves in The Dark World), eventually succeeding in overthrowing its leadership.

Like Hela, Perrikus once destroyed Mjolnir. In Hela's case, she crushed it in the palm of her hand. In Perrikus's case, he used his mighty scythe to cleave the hammer in half without so much as breaking a sweat. After destroying Mjolnir, he defeated and enslaved Thor, who eventually bested Perrikus by allying himself with the Destroyer.

With that sort of pedigree, Perrikus could be kind of indomitable force worthy of uniting Thor, Valkyrie, and Jane Foster's God of Thunder.
