Thor: Love and Thunder has hit cinemas and as is expected by now, features two post-credits scenes that hint towards what's next for the franchise.

Surprisingly though, the latest sequel to come from the MCU machine is a rather self-contained affair. Unlike Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder doesn't require you to have been dipping into the TV shows or keeping up with every new development in the franchise. Instead, it picks up where Avengers: Endgame left off with Thor and circles back around to his romance with Jane Foster from the previous movies.

In that sense, it attempts to develop - and in some cases, wrap up - threads established in the god of thunder's other outings, and in doing so features substantial ramifications for each of the main characters.

This time around, Thor, reunited with Jane (now the superhero Mighty Thor), attempts to stop the villainous Gorr the God Butcher from getting to the centre of the universe. As is tradition, the post-credits scenes throw a few spanners in the works, and even set up the story for a potential Thor 5...

Spoilers ahead.
