Thor: Love & Thunder: 10 Questions It Leaves Unanswered

How many gods did Gorr actually butcher, anyway?

Thor: Love and Thunder may be a relatively standalone, self-contained movie for the most part, but that doesn't mean fans haven't been left with a ton of unanswered questions to make sense of.

As much as the movie did justice to the Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) storyline and continued Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) journey of self-discovery, it also left many, many things up in the air.

Such is the formula of an MCU sequel: answer some questions but raise far more to keep fans hooked for the next one, and in that regard Love and Thunder has more-or-less succeeded in spite of its myriad flaws.

Having seen the movie and thought hard on it, these are the 10 most pressing questions leaving fans in agonised uncertainty right now.

From the ambiguous fates of certain characters to issues that could be called plot holes, deep existential quandaries, and everything in-between, these are the questions we desperately need answers for.

Given that Taika Waititi loves to interface with his fans there's actually a fair chance we get answers to at least some of these in the coming weeks and months. Fingers crossed, but until then let's consider what the answers might be...

10. Will Jane Come Back From Valhalla?

Jane Foster's journey throughout the film ends with her sacrificing herself, using her Mighty Thor powers to destroy the Necrosword and put Gorr's (Christian Bale) crusade to an end.

This causes Jane to be overcome by her cancer and pass away shortly thereafter in Thor's arms, but in Love and Thunder's post-credits scene, we learn that her heroic sacrifice in battle landed her at the gates of Valhalla, where she's greeted by the also-dead Heimdall (Idris Elba).

So, is this where we say goodbye to Jane Foster for good, or is there a way for her to return from Valhalla?

While the Marvel comics have finagled various ways for Thor and others to come back to the land of the living from Valhalla, to date the MCU has pretty strictly kept spirited away warriors firmly in Valhalla.

If it were possible for the dead to come back from Valhalla, surely we would've seen Odin (Anthony Hopkins), Frigga (Rene Russo), Heimdall, the Warriors Three, or even Valkyrie's (Tessa Thompson) dead girlfriend resurface?

It's certainly possible that Jane could find a loophole to come back to Earth, perhaps even as a Valkyrie to team up with the Valkyrie, but it honestly feels like this was a one-off for Natalie Portman - an opportunity to finally do justice to a character who's been given the short shrift throughout most of her MCU tenure.

One suspects Portman is happy to move on from the franchise now, but money talks, so you never know. It wouldn't be shocking to see Jane make a cameo from Valhalla in a future film, but it's unlikely she'll be back for a substantial role among the living.
