Thor: Love & Thunder - 25 WTF Moments

8. The Mediocre LGBTQ+ Representation

Much has been made pre-release of Love and Thunder being a proudly LGBTQ+ movie, yet as is so often the case with anything produced by Disney, what passes for representation here is ultimately disappointingly piecemeal.

Despite Tessa Thompson stating literally years ago that the movie would be centered around Valkyrie's search for a queen, that entire plotline is nowhere to be seen.

Beyond a fleeting reference to her dead girlfriend and a brief moment where she kisses a woman's hand in Omnipotent City, her sexuality is scarcely mentioned.

Elsewhere we learn that Korg has two dads and is himself gay, but again these are seconds-long moments that could easily be cut out for more bigoted, less-progressive international movie markets.

Considering that both Taika Waititi and Natalie Portman affirmed the film's gayness at its recent London premiere, it's disappointing that the end result so toothlessly skirts around the very subject.
