21. That Weird Event Horizon/Interstellar Reference

While Jane is receiving chemo, we get a very strange pop-culture reference indeed, as Jane talks to a fellow patient who just so happens to be reading her recently published science book.

The guy's struggling with the concept of the Einstein-Rosen bridge - that is, the Bifrost - and so Jane explains the notion of a wormhole by folding a piece of paper and piercing a pen through it, creating a hole in the fold.

This will be a familiar sight for sci-fi fans, given that it appeared in both 1997's Event Horizon and 2014's Interstellar, with Jane even name-dropping both movies during the scene and suggesting that the guy watch them.

What a strangely specific reference for a Thor movie of all things. Amusingly, though, in Event Horizon the scene was performed by Sam Neill, who also appears in this film as the actor version of Odin on New Asgard (a part he also played in Thor: Ragnarok, of course).
