Thor: Ragnarok - 10 Reasons It's The Best Thor Movie

8. Taika Waititi's Unique Comic Tone

Ragnarok's tone is distinctly different to that of the first two Thor films: the original saw Kenneth Branagh lean into the Shakespearean aspect with light flecks of comedy, while The Dark World went full-on goofy with naked Erik Selvig and the whole Ian debacle, yet the third movie is its own tonal beast altogether.

Director Taika Waititi's uniquely eccentric comic sensibilities, honed on the indie comedy movie scene, ensure that Ragnarok is an MCU film like no other, full of off-kilter gags and moments that were clearly improvised on-the-spot.

Many were worried that the director's own style would get lost in the Marvel machine, but thankfully he mostly retains his distinctive voice for the most part, making Ragnarok by far the most enjoyable film of the trilogy.
