Thor: Ragnarok Trailer - 9 Big Questions We're Left With
Asgardians Of The Galaxy.
With Monday's Thor: Ragnarok teaser trailer marking our first look at the God Of Thunder's latest solo outing, we've now seen previews of all three MCU entries that are due out this year, and perhaps surprisingly, this might be the funniest, most off-the-wall of the lot.
Considering how straight-laced the first two Thor movies were you might have expected the threequel to be equally as hardened, and in a year that also contains the irreverent Guardians and the quippy Spider-Man, it's bonkers to think that a Thor movie could be the weirdest of the bunch.
But when you take into account that Taika Waititi is at the helm (a man known for his comedy), everything starts to make more sense. Thor is generally everyone's least-favourite MCU franchise, so injecting a healthy dose of wit and humour into Ragnarok can only serve to broaden the character's appeal.
The trailer gave us a good look at this new, more spirited tone - complete with glimpses of several new cast-members - and all around, it's the perfect package, telling us what to expect from the film without really giving away any plot spoilers.
And the fact that the trailer is light on story details means we have a lot of burning questions. With so much going on and so many characters in play, there are a lot of things we don't yet know, but are desperate to find out!
Honourable Mention: Are Those Wampas?
Pause the trailer in just the right spot and you get a glimpse of Thor being dragged away by a pair of hulking, white-haired beasts.
Star Wars crossover confirmed.
9. How Much Narration Will The Film Have?
The trailer opens with Thor - wrapped up in chains - tumbling toward the camera in a fiery, hellish-looking environment.
This looks like it could either be Hel, or Muspelheim, home of the demon Surtur. Thor certainly doesn't look happy with what is in front of him, and an ancient demon stood right in full view would certainly make anyone more disgruntled.
But arguably the most intriguing part of this scene is the narration that's playing over the top. There hasn't been any fourth-wall-breaking narration in the MCU so far, so it does feel a little jarring at first, though it is in keeping with Taika Waititi's offbeat directorial style.
Will this type of narration permeate the entire film? Or will it just open the movie, then flash us back in time to see what led Thor to his chain-infused predicament? This particular scene could be set in the future once Thor's hair has grown back, so that's a possibility.
Or, this scene could open the film, and the narration was just a quirky choice made purely to lend the trailer a bit more personality. After all, there is a chance that Thor says these lines, normally, throughout the movie.
But with Waititi at the helm, anything is possible. Marvel are famous for giving their directors a lot of freedom which allows each movie to feel unique, and narration throughout Thor: Ragnarok would certainly accomplish that.
