Thor: The Dark World: 5 Things We Hope To See

3. A Fresh Taste of Villainy

thor-the-dark-world-malekith-christopher-eccleston Tom Hiddleston€™s Loki has become the villain to beat in the Marvel Movieverse. There€™s a humanity and dynamism to Hiddleston€™s performance that makes the character far more than a one-note bad guy. The challenge now, however, is this: Loki is not positioned as the Big Bad in The Dark World €“ this time, it€™s somebody new. Christopher Eccleston returns to the realm of the fantastic with his turn as Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves. In Marvel history, the character has clashed with Thor several times in his quest for dominance over all the Nine Realms. When he hits the big screen for the first time, he€™ll have to bring something extraordinary and unique to the role in order to supersede the unavoidable comparisons to both Hiddleston€™s Loki, and Big Bad Thanos (who is set up to be the next great adversary in the Marvel Universe). Heroes are greatest when they face the worst the universe can throw at them, and Malekith certainly seems to have the potential to be just that for Thor.
