By the hammer of Thor, it's here! With less than week to go 'til
Iron Man 3 hit theatres in the UK (this Friday, if you're wondering), Marvel have rolled out the first trailer for the follow-up to
Thor - this one subtitled
The Dark World. Directed by Alan Taylor (
Game of Thrones) and starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tom Hiddleston (to name but a few), this blockbuster marks the 8th movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon. And the trailer, I have to admit, looks pretty awesome (if not a little cheesy, though that's doing nothing to put me off, to be honest). So what did we know about
Thor: The Dark World before we got a glimpse of this new footage? That the flick is set a year after the events of Joss Whedon's superhero team-up party
The Avengers, and that Thor would be going up against a "primeval race, led by Malekith," who - you guessed it - wants to plunge the world into relative darkness. There's also been talk of Thor making "the ultimate sacrifice," which (as you'll know from watching movies in general) could mean absolutely anything.
