Tim Burton Drinking Game: His Top 8 Cliches

8. "Music By Danny Elfman"

8Offenders: Let's be honest - there are way too many to count. I think if Burton ever directs again, he should make the title card that says "Danny Elfman" either really small or feature the word "again" somewhere, because this is just getting far too hilarious. I'd be okay with it if it weren't for Burton putting it in ABSOLUTELY HUGE LETTERS so everyone can point and laugh at it. Not only that, but am I the only one who thinks the opening music from Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory sound pretty similar? I'm not saying Elfman's a bad musician, I'm just saying it's funny to walk into a cinema and count how long it takes to see his name on the screen. Part of me thinks that Burton should hire somebody else for a change but the rest just keeps reminding me that Elfman has written so many beautiful pieces in Burton's movies that it would be close to a betrayal to let him go now. So, while it is still a cliche, it's one I'm willing to put up with.
