1. Turner & Hooch- Scott Turner
The 1989 comedy Turner & Hooch runs about 95 minutes, and for the majority of that running time, Oscar nominee Tom Hanks yells at a French Mastiff named Hooch for barking, slobbering and disobeying his orders. Turner & Hooch is pretty much the lowest that Tom Hanks got in his career, during a dry couple of years. Hanks is forced to resort to scene after scene of sight gags and physical pratfalls all at the hands (or paws) of his furry co-star. Playing a police detective who inherits Hooch the dog from a murdered friend, the clean and organized Turner takes in the junk yard raised Hooch, and of course, hilarity ensues! Now some people have a soft spot for this film, and it has developed a cult following through the years, but the film itself is a threadbare device to deliver a handful of Laurel & Hardy-esque gags involving a wild dog and a gentle man. Hanks does not hold up well in the film, and through his numerous fits of rage spat at Hooch, Hanks seems to be always on edge, waiting for the dog to miss his mark and ruin his take. Hanks, who can pull off angry in a very funny way does not bode well here. Through the years Turner & Hooch has been a running gag, in the "so bad it is good" category, with Hanks himself taking a few cheapshots at the film over the years. But rest assured, Turner & Hooch is just so bad, that it sucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02xSabui8vk Can you think of any more Awesome Tom Hanks performances that we may have missed?
