3. Forrest Bondurant (Lawless)
The most recent of the bunch, Forrest Bondurant is the eldest brother who is characterized by his badass lackadaisical attitue. This is mostly highlighted by his constant mumbling, aimless meandering, and his penchant for looking death straight in the eye and walking straight past it - not in the courageous way. As the eldest Bondurant, he lays the foundation for the whole film while his youngest brother, Jack, tramples all over it. As one of the leads in the film, Hardy is given ample screen time to mend the flaws of this film. A whole lot of nothing happens while the film drags on and on about Jack's annoying coming of age. Most of the characters lack any sort of grit needed in a western as it feels like they were plucked out of the twenty-first century and had costumes put on - which is exactly what happened I guess. The one saving grace besides Guy Pearce's Charlie Rakes is of course, Tom Hardy, which is the reason he's number 3. Much like Ricki Tarr in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Forrest is a burst of character who has just enough "off-ness" to make the film worthwhile. He provides the charisma, the confidence, and oddly enough, the humor of the entire cast - strange seeing as how his character is very silent. Most of all, Forrest actually felt like a character in the correct era, which is ironic considering the nature of his personality. If it wasn't obvious enough by now, Forrest is that MSLS type that Hardy seems to love. I don't blame him, he does this characters exceptionally well.
