1. Vader is Lukes father (The Empire Strikes Back, 1980)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6sj89xgnl4 Hes lying! Thats what James Earl Jones apparently thought when he first read the line where Darth Vader claims to be the father of Luke Skywalker. It was such a horrifying notion. It would be like the leader of the French resistance finding out that his father is Hitler. And yet, as a child seeing this movie back in the day, I knew, just knew that it wasnt a lie. It felt like the truth, horrible though it was. Though the prequels have certainlyshall we saylimited the impact of this scene to audiences today, it remains the top moment in all of science fiction film history, and as weve seen from this list, its on the top of a lot of great company.
