Toy Story 4: 19 Easter Eggs & References Explained

11. The Shining

Pixar & Warner Bros.

It's not much of a secret that Pixar loves including references to Stanley Kubrick's The Shining in their movies, most notably with the Overlook-aping carpet in Sid's house in the original film.

In Toy Story 4, the references are more overt than ever before.

The record playing in the antiques shop is "Midnight, The Stars and You" by Ray Noble and His Orchestra, as was famously employed at the end of The Shining, while the old lady accosted by Ducky (Keegan-Michael Key) and Bunny (Jordan Peele) in her home resides in a house numbered "237" (like The Shining's infamously haunted Room 237).

But arguably the best and certainly weirdest reference of all? When Woody and Bo Peep enter the makeshift bar to meet with Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves), you'll see a bear toy with a significant resemblance to the guy in the bear suit from The Shining. Creepy.
