I have five favourite genre's which pretty define me as a film-fan. They are in no particular order... The Western The Film Noir The Horror Movie The Science Fiction/Comic Book Genre The Fantasy/Adventure Genre Unfortunately, the top two genre's on that list are all (with very few exceptions) pretty much dead and have been for a long time. The third on that list is dying a long and painful death with total unoriginality. It's on life support. Thankfully for the Western genre, some very important actors have decided to do a movie in the genre that will be released sometime this year... Those names include Liam Neesom, Pierce Brosnan (both for Seraphim Falls which only got a limited release but it's still good for the genre), Brad Pitt, Zooey Deschanel, Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell and more (The Assassination of of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford) and Christian Bale, Russell Crowe and Peter Fonda (3:10 to Yuma). Marina at Mad About Movies has posted a trailer for the Jesse James flick which we have already discussed as having quite a few problems with it's production. The trailer you can see below is quite nice. It's doesn't give anything away like so many trailers these days and has a very intriguing, if maybe a little slow... feel. We think the movie will be released on Sept 21st (U.S.) but seriously who knows?
