Trainspotting 2: 6 Biggest Talking Points From The T2 Trailer

1. The Plot Of The Book

The biggest quandary which has hung over the impending sequel to the cinematic version of Irvine Welsh's most iconic work is to what extent it will call upon 'Porno'; his 2001 novel which follows the character's lives nine years on from the events of 'Trainspotting.'

Considering that Danny Boyle has publicly made his feelings on Welsh's follow up known and stated that it is 'not a great book' in the way that its forerunner is a 'masterpiece', it's likely that the director, Hodge and Welsh have worked cooperatively in order to translate the book's core elements to the big screen.

Without providing any massive spoilers, scenes such as a busy rave scene appears to hark back to Renton's time in Amsterdam following his escape when he ran a successful nightclub while Sick Boy running a pub (his aunt's to be exact) is also retained from the book.

Although not in overabundance, there is a brief clip which appears to be derived from the shooting of a pornographic film, a world which; as you'd expect from its title, the gang delves into alongside a cast of new characters in the original novel. The most notable of which is Nikki Fuller-Smith, the English university student that slowly becomes embroiled in their seedy world.

Although not named or clearly referenced in the trailer, the powers of deduction would place her in the scenes alongside Sick Boy in which he asks her to phone the police at 0:49, with Spud at 1:40 and alongside Renton at 0:31 and later at 1:24.

While all we can do for now is speculate given the cageyness of cast and director to reveal any major plot lines, what takes place in the trailer suggests that the film will tow the line between Welsh's original text and a freshly devised work of Hodge and Boyle's.
