Transcendence Trailer 2: 5 Things We Learned

Is Transcendence transcendent? Here we pick apart the latest trailer.

In just two months Wally Pfister's hotly anticipated directorial debut, Transcendence, arrives in theatres. Pfister of course is the Academy Award winning cinematographer of Inception and the Dark Knight trilogy, and judging by what we've seen from the film so far he's learned a lot from Nolan and is bringing those skills to the table here. Transcendence stars Johnny Depp as Dr. Will Caster, an AI expert whose consciousness is uploaded into a computer after a botched assassination attempt. He and his team strive to create a machine that possesses sentience and collective intelligence, something that a radical anti-technology group is hoping to stop. We got our first glimpse at the film in December, then received the second full trailer earlier this week, which you can see here: The trailer offers plenty of new footage, while giving us a few new nuggets of cryptic information to examine in closer detail. Here are five things we learned from the sci-fi thriller, which arrives in theaters on April 18, 2014.
