Transcendence Trailer - 5 Key Things We Learned

1. The Film Evolves Into A Monster Movie

"It may be sentient, ie may even be intelligent. This is not Will." As grounded as its character story may be, the film does appear to evolve into something greater than one man's quest to survive through technological means. Once Will is uploaded to the supercomputer, one of the first things we hear him say is, "You need to get me online. I need more power." Will then begins to evolve, continually expanding and acquiring more knowledge until he becomes dangerous. We see brief shots of explosions, and men with guns firing at some sort of black, slithering substance coming up from the ground. We're never told exactly what happens or what it is that's floating up from the ground in some of the trailer's final moments, but it appears that Will's power has gone beyond a quest for knowledge and intelligence and has become something much more sinister.
All in all, it's an exciting tease for what will certainly be one of 2014's most interesting and anticipated films. We'll finally get our chance to see Wally Pfister's directorial debut when it arrives in theaters on April 17th. What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited for this film?
