The fact that no one has flinched at this concept since seeing Michael Bay's realization of it is proof in and of itself that this movie is doing something right. The fact that Bay has taken what was originally a cash grab in the toy line and turned it into a visually pleasing attribute goes a long way towards selling the concept. You can practically write the original pitch meeting yourself: "What do kids love more than Transformers? " Dinosaurs, Sir?!" "Exactly! Put them together and you've paid off my boat house for the next five years!" This wasn't an idea that was supposed to make sense out of toy manufacturing, and it can be scary stuff when someone tries to make it into a movie. (There's a reason Monopoly still hasn't busted onto the screens just yet.) But without taking into account the explanation that they have cooked up for their existence, the design of the creatures themselves doesn't cheap out. Bay and Company have gotten us to believe robots can turn into Camaros, but for their next trick... they're going for dinosaurs. This movie, for lack of a better term, has quite a pair on it: it's attempting something even bolder than rewriting human history, it's doing so with a supposedly fresh approach to characters, and it's got Stanley Tucci in it! Seriously, even his worst films tend to include some grade A material on his end. Before this trailer, you wouldn't have been able to pay for some people to go see it. After this trailer though, we're freaking excited! What say you, are the Autobots back and better than ever, or should "Age Of Extinction" be referring to the current state of the franchise?
