9. The War On Terror
Paramount PicturesOne of Age of Extinction's major plot points concerns the CIA, and how their determined leader Harold Attinger (Grammer) plans to eliminate the Transformers once and for all with the help of robot bounty hunter Lockdown. While Attinger's reeling off this exposition early in the movie, we see him throw down a number of playing cards with various Transformer faces on, including Ironhide, who is marked with a red X after being killed in the previous movie. This "Most Wanted" card pack is a clever allusion to the very same tactic the US government employed with the Iraq war, distributing sets of playing cards to soldiers with the identities of the most sought-after members of Saddam Hussein's government. Though we don't really think anyone needed a playing card to help them identify Bumblebee or Optimus Prime, it's one of the movie's few inspired borrowings from real history, and certainly gave us a smile.
