Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

3. The Underwhelming Action Sequences

At least a Transformers movie has some insane action going for it, right?

Well, there are certainly some diverting moments, but far too few across the film's runtime to make Rise of the Beasts an action extravaganza that lives up to the bombastic "Bayhem" of the Bayformers movies, or even Bumblebee's memorable opening Cybertron sequence.

Yes, watching giant robots punch the life out of each other can't help but be periodically entertaining, yet ultimately there's very little on offer here that we haven't seen before in some fashion.

It largely ends up blurring together into an amorphous sludge, especially during the aforementioned mediocre final battle, ensuring there's little here you'll want to revisit again and again.

Compared to, say, the epic hour-long finale of Bay's third Transformers film, Dark of the Moon, this feels modest to a fault.
