Transformers: The Last Knight: 20 WTF Moments

7. The Randomly Switching Aspect Ratios

Because Michael Bay shot The Last Knight with eight different types of camera, the film's ratio frequently switches, resulting in some jarring visual transitions that prove incredibly distracting.

As fantastic as the IMAX footage looks, the out-of-nowhere addition of black bars when switching to a different camera fast becomes annoying.

In the middle of action sequences and even during fairly tepid dialogue scenes, Bay randomly changes-up the camera he's using, and sometimes it looks like the shots haven't even been colour-corrected the same way, making the switching even more noticeable.

Considering everything this movie does narratively and aesthetically, perhaps it's just best thought of as a big-budget experimental film.
