Tron 3: 5 Do's and 5 Don'ts

2. Don't - Go Back to "The Grid"

I mentioned before that Tron: Legacy felt like a smaller film than it made itself out to be, and that that feeling had to do with the setting. That's because Tron: Legacy was partially a remake of the original film in order to introduce it to newer audiences. This was a mistake because even though everything looked shiny and new, the plot felt like the same song being sung by a different vocalist. The next film needs to stay away from that if it wants to improve on the formula. Now, even though a return to The Grid is off the table, that doesn't mean we can't reenter the world of the computer. Can we please see a Tron inspired version of the Internet? Or see a variety of systems that are radically different in design and attitude than what we've seen before? I still think the majority of the film should take place in the "real world", but if we have to go back into the digital realm, try to do something else than what has already been tackled in the previous two films.
