Adapted for the big screen by Catherine Hardwicke back in 2008, based upon Stephanie Meyer's smash-hit novel, Twilight became an instant pop-culture phenom and box-office success, grossing almost $400m against a budget of just $37m.
The romantic fantasy story follows the protagonist Bella Swan and her romantic relationship between the mysterious young man Edward Cullen, who turns out to be an ancient (but !*$% sparkly) vampire. However, he's not the only one vying for Bella's attentions in the series.
The other romantic interest for Bella is Jacob Black, a young man from the same town who becomes one of her closest friends, but wishes it could be more. Further complicating the love triangle is that he turns out to be a shape changer and sworn enemy of the vampires...awkward! The romantic inclusion of Jacob sparked off one of the most famous fangirl divisions of Team Edward vs Team Jacob.
