Tyrese Gibson is a THUNDERCAT?

Tyrese Gibson of Flight of the Phoenix, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers, Transformers and the upcoming Death Race fame could be the first actor signed up for the Thundercats project. According to Coming Soon, he told the site he has already been "heavily involved" in bringing the popular 80's cartoon to the big screen (hinting at a producers role) and that a deal is very soon from completion. The last we heard back in October 2007 was Jerry O€™Flaherty (art director on the video games Gears of War and Command & Conqueror) had been hired to make his directorial debut on a CGI motion capture adaptation which would act as an origin movie at Warner Bros. Whether the idea is still to make the movie in that way is not known - though I have to say a live action Thundercats movie could be a disaster on the same level as Thunderbirds.
