Universal Make ADJUSTMENTS For Matt Damon's Sci-Fi Thriller

There are few actors more in demand these days than Matt Damon. Having been for years a charismatic, handsome, but- broadly speaking- monotone performer, he has long since left behind the €œMatt Damon€ characterture of Team America notoriety. A glance at Damon€™s recent films alone- Hereafter, True Grit, Green Zone, etc- reveal a depth and subtlety that have made him among the leading Hollywood men of his generation at forty summers young. In his upcoming film, however, Damon makes a return to the world of the paranormal with a romantic sci-fi thriller entitled, The Adjustment Bureau. The film, based on a short story by the legendary Philip K. Dick is finally due out in March having been pushed back from it's 2010 summer date by the best part of the year. Gearing up marketing on the movie, Universal have released two new posters plus a trailer; Posters after the jump... And still Universal don't quite know how to market a film that has proven to be very problematic for them indeed and adaptations of Philip K. Dicks writing for the big-screen could charitably be described as having mixed results. Total Recall, whilst a tolerable yarn, lacked the substance of its source material, Next €“with Nicolas Cage- was very poor, and A Scanner Darkly just didn't work. There are other similar examples of Hollywood watering down Dick€™s sophisticated, dark and often multi-faceted stories, but the gold standard to which all director€™s must aspire in this regard is, of course, Blade Runner, based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? If Nolfi comes close to emulating the seminal majesty of this film- as Ridley Scott has found- any future indiscretions behind the camera may be rendered immaterial.
