I actually watched Gregory Hoblit's last movie Fracture at the weekend. You know that movie about the cat-and-mouse mind games between prosecution lawyer Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins, after Hopkins shoots his wife in cold blood at his home? I thought it was pretty good, although how much I would have enjoyed it if Hopkins wasn't so God damn great at playing serial killers, I don't know. It's the performances I remember more than the direction. Hoblit's next movie Untraceable is another crime flick, but this time it's with a bigger scope. Diane Lane stars as Jennifer Marsh, the lead investigator of a FBI team who are hunting down a killer who posts images of his victims on the Internet and what's pretty clever about the movie is that the more people that log-on, the quicker people die. It's a pretty nice metaphor and example of the kind of thing that probably would happen in real life, as God knows the general public wouldn't be able to help themselves clicking on the webpage to see what was going on. Maybe I'm not being fair enough to Hoblit and his direction in Fracture because as soon as this trailer started I thought of that flick, or maybe it was just because I recognized Billy Burke who was also in that movie? Look for this in January (U.S.) and March (U.K.). Looks pretty good... CLICK HERE TO SEE THE TRAILER source - coming soon
