8. Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom (1984)
The second movie release of the Indiana Jones franchise, the Temple of Doom is a vague prequel to the earlier release, Raiders of the Lost Ark. In a memorable and quite shocking scene for an Indiana Jones movie, Mola Ram (Amrish Puri), the demonic High Priest of the Thugge cult, has a man tied to an iron-framed structure in his temple (of doom!). His worshippers look on eagerly as it becomes clear that the unfortunate man is to be sacrificed to the gods in a brutal ritual. Mola Ram reaches for the man and delves his hand in to his chest, pulling out the man's heart as he screams in agony. Bizarrely, the wound soon heals and the man is still alive - though not for long, as he is subsequently lowered in to a vat of molten lava.
