Vanilla Sky Ending: Every Frame Explained

5. Dr. Pomeranz

Vanilla Sky
Paramount Pictures

Armand Schultz plays the part of Dr. Pomeranz, the doctor who offers David a facial prosthetic until more can be done to assist in his facial reconstruction, yet once the lucid dream "splice" has taken place, he swiftly changes his demeanour to offer David the reconstruction surgery.

David makes it clear as he relays his story to Dr. McCabe (Kurt Russell) that he doesn't much trust Pomeranz and his fast-changing mood, as is clearly elucidated by the fact that in his final memory, he visualises the doc flipping him the bird up-close.

Given that David feels immense frustration pre-splice that the doctors won't experiment upon him in order to fix his face, it's totally, hilariously fitting that he sees Pomeranz this way.
