11. Venom Loves Dogs

After Venom is separated from Eddie by the MRI machine, it sneaks off through the hospital's ventilation system and ends up using a small dog as a host, before leaping to Anne moments later.

This is surely a reference to several sequences from the comics where a symbiote has attached itself to a canine.

The most prominent instances include Mania, a symbiote cloned from Venom's tongue, briefly bonding to a sled dog named Ivan in order to escape; and both Lasher and Venom itself bonding to a German Shepherd in separate incidents.

Sadly it was played more for laughs in the movie and without much of a payoff beyond "here's a cute thing infected by Venom".
