Poor Riz Ahmed. The guy is insanely talented and certainly deserving of a big marquee villain role in a tentpole movie, but this just wasn't the one. Ahmed struggles to do much with Carlton Drake beyond a total garden variety rich guy megalomaniac whose "philanthropic" pursuits give way to unbridled chaos.

Like most of the best cast members, Ahmed pretty much sleep-walks his way through this one, making Drake nothing more than an early-2000s superhero movie cliche. Disappointingly Ahmed doesn't even go full ham and have some campy fun with the role, instead opting for boring, stoic seriousness.

Things don't really get much better when he's taken over by Riot, leading to a goopy, incoherent final battle and a totally uninspired death scene for the villain. Boo.
