During the climax, Anne very nearly ends up losing her life when she's left suspended over the cathedral's clock tower shaft, clinging to Venom's tendril while he's being attacked by Carnage.

This scene will likely set the Spider-Sense tingling of even casual comic book fans, given its extreme visual resemblance to Gwen Stacy's death in both the Spider-Man comics and 2014's film The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Evidently the filmmakers couldn't resist the urge to wink at fans and tease the possibility of Anne, who also bears a decent physical likeness to Gwen, suffering the same fate.

Thankfully this was just fan-bait, as Anne is dropped into the cathedral from a lower height a few moments later and safely caught by Dan.
