Warner Bros. & Capcom make deal for LOST PLANET

Lost Planet, the Capcom video game that has sold 2 million copies in the U.S. alone has been picked up by Warner Bros. for a film adaptation. The project is set to be officially announced at today's E3 conference where Watchmen, X-Men 1 & 2 scribe David Hayter (coincidentally, he is also the voice of Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid video games) is expected to be announced as the screenwriter chosen to adapt the project. Capcom and Warner Bros. will co-finance the project, with the latter distributing it worldwide. Former Marvel head honcho Ari Arad will produce for Seaside Entertainment.
The vidgame revolves around an expedition to an ice planet that harbors an energy source with the potential to save mankind.
Capcom have been more aggressive than most in getting out their video games for movies. They co-financed three Resident Evil movies and has adaptations of both Street Fighter (at Hyde Park Entertainment) and Onimusha (at Paramount) on the way.

Kinda looks like Doom on Ice. Lots of creepy monstrosities and high tech weapons and vehicles but we shouldn't need to worry about the lack of story from Hayter. He's a good scribe, here's hoping for a movie more like The Thing than Doom. source - variety
